Brockport voters head to polls Tuesday, June 20
Voters will be asked to cast their ballot for a new trustee on Tuesday, June 20 in the Village of Brockport elections. The trustee seat, now occupied by Mary Jo Nayman, was an appointed position and both she and candidate Hanny Heyen will be vying for the vacancy. The seat will be for a four year term. more

Byron-Bergen sets date for budget revote
At a special meeting held on Friday, June 2, the Byron-Bergen Board of Education unanimously adopted two propositions regarding the district's 2006-2007 school budget. more

BCSD eligible for prekindergarten grant
The Brockport Central School District became eligible for a Universal Prekindergarten (UPK) grant. If the district receives the grant, the program will start in September and service 33 children who will be selected through a lottery-type process. more

Joan Viscardi, school bus driver for 21 years with the Brockport Central School District, has been named BCSD's "Transportation Employee of the Year." more

Students in Will Fitzpatrick and Alana Stefanski's classes at Byron-Bergen High School have been working together to identify types of emergency situations at the personal, family and community levels in an instructional unit called "The Science of Safety." more


In Sports:

Blue Devils drop title game
Fairport scored runs in each of the first three innings, including batting around and scoring four runs in the second, to defeat Brockport 6-1 in the Class AAA baseball championship game played at Dwyer Stadium in Batavia. It was Brockport's third trip to the finals over the last four seasons. more

Hilton Heat U14 Boys are champs
The annual Hilton Heat "Just for Kicks" soccer tournament was held June 2 to 4 in Parma. more

Reilich presents Excelsior Award
Assemblyman Bill Reilich (R,C,I-Greece) and his Assembly Republican colleagues honored Greece's Jason "J-Mac" McElwain with an Excelsior Award for Excellence for his amazing performance as a basketball player in spite of his autism. more

Spencerport teams qualify for scholar athlete award
