Brockport residents requested and the resolution was approved by the village board to install stop signs on Brookdale Road between house numbers 51 and 59 as a way to deter drivers who regularly speed down that stretch of road in the village. more

Main Street closure requests prompt
discussion at Brockport village meeting

Requests to close portions of Main Street came from separate groups and were made to Village of Brockport officials at the February 26 meeting. Mike Davis, director of programs at SUNY Brockport, made the request so his group could host a SUNY/Community event prior to graduation and Gloria Lear, donor relations assistant at Lakeside Health System, made a request to close a portion of Main Street for the hospital's second annual Great Lakeside Bed Race. more

New Yorkers miss out on telephone tax refunds
The Internal Revenue Service urged New Yorkers to see if they qualify for the telephone excise tax refund after more than 10 million early filers did not request the one-time refund. more

RWC's Division of Nursing hosts international healthcare expert
Anne Boykin, Ph.D., R.N. is recognized internationally and nationally for her scholarship in caring. Dr. Boykin has been at the forefront of leadership in the International Association for Human Caring for a number of years, having served as president of the organization from 1993 through 1996 and co-editor of the International Journal for Human Caring from 1997 through 1999. more

Blue Devils go to big house
A 55-48 win over ninth seeded Canandaigua was about as far as anyone expected eighth-seeded Brockport to advance in the Class AA boy's basketball Section Five Tournament. But then came a 43-41 upset of top-seeded Brighton on the road and the slipper fit perfectly. more

Cadets fall to Trojans
Second-seeded Greece Athena never trailed on their way to a 61-47 victory over third-seeded Hilton to earn a spot in the Class AA championship game against McQuaid. more

SCS teams qualify for scholar awards
Three Spencerport winter varsity athletic teams qualified for the NYSPHSAA Team Scholar Athlete Award during the winter 2006-07 season. In order to quality, a team must have a team grade point average of 90 percent or above. more
