Bats and birds move into new homes in Parma
Throughout the years, the Parma Town Park on Route 259 has benefited from Scout service projects, and thanks to Richie and Ted Alexander's Eagle projects completed this summer, bats and birds will be enjoying new homes. Under the direction of Parma Supervisor Rick Lemcke, the Alexander brothers took on ambitious projects which would assist the park's natural habitat and make the park more comfortable for park patrons. more

Child safety seat check provided by Spencerport Fire District
The Spencerport Fire District, in conjunction with the Spencerport Volunteer Firemen's Association, will be providing a new service to the community starting in November. The Spencerport Fire District will be conducting car safety seat inspections free of charge to local residents as part of their fire prevention and injury prevention program. more

Girl Scout Troop 929 assists
Noone Post 954 in community service

Each year, Harvey C. Noone Post 954 decorates the graves of deceased veterans on Memorial Day with an American Flag and a geranium to honor their service to our nation. This year, 387 graves were decorated. These flags fly until fall when they are removed by Post members. more

Hamlin supervisor race raises town issues
The Hamlin supervisor’s race has incumbent Austin F. Warner III pitted against Peter Tonery. There is a full slate of candidates on the Democratic and All Hamlin tickets hoping to win over their Republican counterparts. In addition to the supervisor’s race, there are two open town board spots and a race for Hamlin Town Justice. more

Insurance coverage, .08BAC announced for snowmobilers
According to Senator George D. Maziarz (R-C, North Tonawanda) New York state has reached an agreement with the New York State Snowmobile Association to secure insurance coverage for the snowmobile organizations whose members provide regular maintenance on the 9,000 mile state-designated trail system. more

In Ogden, Democrat Garry Cranker is challenging incumbent Republican Gay Lenhard for supervisor. more

RPYO opens concert season on November 16
RPYO Music Director David Harman will lead the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra in its opening concert of the 2003-2004 season on Sunday, November 16, at 7 p.m. in the Performance Hall of the Hochstein School of Music and Dance. more

to improve delivery, ease expansion of CDCs
The U.S. Small Business Administration is modifying its 504 Certified Development Company Program to encourage creation of new lenders, expansion of the territories they serve, and, ultimately, improve the delivery of the program to small businesses and further spur job creation. more

Sweden's preliminary budget to be presented
Taxpayers in the Town of Sweden will be looking at a slight tax increase when the preliminary budget is presented Tuesday, October 28. more

between incumbent, newcomer for supervisor

Voters in the Town of Sweden will be faced with a choice this year when they step into the voting booth on Tuesday, November 4. The position of part-time supervisor is being sought after by incumbent Republican Nat O. "Buddy" Lester, III and Democratic opponent Gary Skoog. more

The Town of Chili has begun their leaf collection program for this year. Bulk leaves will be picked up curbside by the Department of Public Works from now through mid-December. more

Holley appoints new village clerk
Connie Nenni, a village resident, began her career with the Village of Holley as the newly appointed village clerk the week of October 13. She was sworn in at the October 14 board meeting. more

Holley water rate going up
Next month, water users in the Village of Holley will see an increase of 30 cents per 1,000 gallons of water. more

Bright Raven Gymnastics was selected to be the site for two Regional Gymnastics Clinics held October 17-19. The event opened on Friday with "Working Together for Nationals" where only USA Gymnastics National qualifiers from the 2002-2003 season were invited. more

Brockport scored five goals in the second half - two by senior Kyle Burghardt - on the way to a 5-1 victory over Hilton in boys soccer on Senior Night. more

The New York State Park Police will be holding two snowmobile safety certification courses for youth in the month of November 2003. The course is targeted for young persons ages 10 to 18. more

Waas, Chandler set aside Eastridge
Brandon Waas and Jason Chandler combined for 28 kills as Spencerport swept Eastridge 25-16, 25-21 and 25-20, at home in their next-to-last regular season boys volleyball match. more
