Monroe County Legislature votes to take more trash to Mill Seat
Monroe County Legislators pushed through the issue of accepting out-of-county garbage at the Mill Seat Landfill in Riga as a 'Matter of Urgency' at their January 11 meeting. more

Residents urged to return Hamlin Community Center survey
The Hamlin Community Center Exploratory Committee has distributed a survey to all Hamlin residents via direct mail. The goal of the survey is to determine the level of interest among Hamlin residents to develop a Community Center in the area as well as to determine the type of facility required. more

Every Churchville-Chili third grader received a "Webster's Dictionary for Students" compliments of the newly formed Churchville Rotary Club. The group is still in the developmental phase but decided to donate the books as their first community service activity. more

Seventeen Hilton High School students were selected by their peers as persons "to whom students would go to if they had a problem and needed someone to trust," according to Park Ridge Youth Outreach Counselor Nancy Lewthwaite and Hilton High School Counselor Shirley Abrams. more

Assistant Superintendent for Business Steve Ayers has announced that the Hilton School District received two Local Government Records Management Improvement Fund Grants (LGRMIF) totaling $40,009 from the New York State Archives. more

The students at Sandy Creek Academy in Holley have been busy learning and having fun at the same time. In addition to the regular curriculum, the third through seventh graders have been learning about the culture of the Pueblo Indian tribes of the American Southwest Four Corners Region. more

Funding for Ogden Lunch Club 60 was unanimously approved by Monroe County Legislature. The legislation authorizes $36,314 to be funded for senior nutrition programs and a variety of activities and services at the Ogden Lunch Club 60. more

Hamlin Recreation will be offering a new "Healthy and Fit for Kids" program that will be offered free to Hamlin residents ages seven to 10-years-old. more

Four members of the Hilton Area Swim Team qualified for and participated in the Niagara District 14 & under gold Junior Olympics, held at the Webster Aquatic Center January 6-9. more

Sabatka leads Saints swimmers
Freshman Mike Sabatka finished first in the 200-yard Individual Medley and the 100-yard butterfly and was part of the top relay team in the 200-yard Medley Relay as Churchville-Chili beat Hilton 97-66. more

Spencerport's Barton gets chance
Players in any sport don't wish to get their chance due to an injury to a teammate, but when the opportunity presents itself they have to perform. Spencerport native Allen Barton got his opportunity when Niagara University's starting goaltender Jeff Van Nynatten broke a finger, putting him on the sidelines for up to eight weeks. more

VanAernum's four points paces Saints
Senior Jason VanAernum scored two goals and added two assists while goaltenders Danny Kuntz and Bryan Forbes shared a shutout as Churchville-Chili defeated Geneva-DeSales 8-0 at Scottsville Arena. more
