Court of Honor held for three Eagle Scouts in Troop 165
Boy Scout Troop 165 held a Court of Honor on May 22 to recognize Jacob Fien, Trevor Kent and Phillip Roushey for earning the rank of Eagle. To earn the rank of Eagle, a scout must earn 21 merit badges, hold leadership positions with the troop and complete an approved community service project. more

Churchville offering energy efficient bulbs to electric customers
The Village of Churchville, in conjunction with the Independent Energy Efficiency Program, Inc. (IEEP), will offer two Energy Star® labeled compact fluorescent lamps (CFL's) to all Churchville residential electric customers at no cost. more

Hilton announces road closures,
advises caution during upcoming carnival

On Wednesday, July 27 from 6:15 p.m. to approximately 8 p.m., the following roads will be closed to all traffic in the village of Hilton for the Hilton Fire Department Kiddie Parade: South Avenue from Raintree Lane to Main Street and West Avenue between South Avenue and Collamer Road. more

Lakeside Golf Classic winners announced
Lakeside's 14th Annual Golf Classic on June 6 raised $15,608 to benefit Lakeside Health System. Close to 100 golfers participated. more

Local writer releases first book
John Bullock, a writer from Hilton, has seen the publications of his first novel after about 10 years of dabbling in writing. "I've been writing for about 10 years and had another book underway, which was set in the same area as Under a Friendship Moon but I needed a break from what was turning into an extremely long novel," he said. more

Red Cross issues emergency appeal for blood donations
The American Red Cross Blood Services has issued an emergency appeal for all current eligible and new blood donors to give blood. The appeal comes in the face of increasingly significant blood shortages. more

Scholarships awarded by Chili church
During the June 26 worship service at the First Presbyterian Church of Chili, Ashley Atwater, Molly Carden, Chris Diehl, Whitney Hoyt and Alison Kasiske were recognized as this year's recipients of the John and Eda Reinhardt Scholarships. more

Sweden's Farmers Museum taking shape
Donations have been coming in and plans are being put into place for the opening of a historic farmers museum in the Town of Sweden's Lakeview Cemetery caretaker's property. A Sweden Farmers Museum committee was formed to take on the task of collecting donations for the museum. more

Village of Brockport recognized for traffic safety efforts
AAA Western and Central New York recognized the Village of Brockport Police Department for their success in AAA's Community Traffic Safety Program. A presentation was made to Chief Daniel Varrenti at AAA's Annual Adult School Crossing Guard Recognition Breakfast held June 29. more

Holley student Chad Barhydt received the Andrew DeCarlo Achievement Award at the annual Sixth-Grade Moving Up Day Awards Assembly. He was selected for the award because he has the highest grade point average in his class. more

Kendall welcomes new high school principal
The Kendall Central School District named Carol D'Agostino as principal at Kendall Jr. Sr. High School. D'Agostino most recently served as assistant principal, staff developer and math, science and technology coordinator at Albion High School. Prior to that, she taught second grade and high school math at Albion. more

Spencerport welcomes new school superintendent
For more than a week, Mary Anne Kermis has been at the helm of the Spencerport School District and she says it's like coming home. more

C-C student competing in Empire State games
Liz Zorn, a student/athlete at Churchville-Chili High School, will be participating in the Empire state games in Poughkeepsie on July 27 through July 31. She will be competing on the western scholastic girls ice hockey team for the third consecutive year after serving as an alternate as an eighth grader in 2002. more

Collamer-Jones karate team wins at championships
Byron-Bergen's Collamer-Jones (Gillam Grant) karate team and its affiliate, Fairport Karate, won 50 trophies at the 2005 Isshinryu World Karate Championships held June 24 and 25 in Akron, Ohio. The team was given a special recognition award by Okinawan Grand Master Kichiro Shimabuku and tournament Director, Heidi Gauntner. more

League champs
The Spencerport Yankees won the League Championship in the Boys Minor Division and finished the season with a 13-0-1 record. more

Sports re-certification set for Spencerport
