Clarkson Historical Society seeks donations for schoolhouse restoration
On September 10, the Clarkson Historical Society held its second annual Clarkson Schoolhouse Reunion, in the recreation room of the Clarkson Community Church. There was a table of very old photos taken of students at the Clarkson Schoolhouse over a period of years and those present were invited to help identify their ancestors or neighbors. There was a discussion of the activities that took place daily in the one-room schools of our country with many of the people in attendance adding their experiences for the record. more

Hilton's electric service opened to Parma residents
In addition to urging more Hilton residents to sign up for the Village of Hilton Municipal Electric Utility, Hilton officials have opened the utility up to Town of Parma residents. more

Holiday outreach groups issue calls for donations

Meeting set to discuss possible school improvement project in Holley
On Thursday, November 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the Holley Middle School/High School auditorium, community members are invited to participate in an open forum to provide input regarding a possible school improvement project at the Middle School/High School. more

Candidates for the Town of Parma council seat were asked their opinions on a much-discussed soccer complex which has been suggested in the town. more

Parma taxpayers to see rate increase
The Town of Parma's preliminary budget is not as "bare bones" as Supervisor Rick Lemcke would like to see but he said it was a challenging year. "We did come up with a preliminary budget but not without controversy," he said. "Although people say we have had an increase on our economic status, all of our costs - like those of every employer - are going up." more

'Pitch in for Pets' benefit planned in Albion
To celebrate National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week (November 5-11) and to help P.A.W.S. Animal Shelter continue its work in rescuing stray animals, 89.1 The Point, WBSU in Brockport, and Subway will team up to present "Pitch in for Pets," with all donations going to P.A.W.S. Animal Shelter of Albion. more

Sweden discusses budget, changes to senior center food prep
The public hearing on the Town of Sweden budget was less about tax rates, revenues and appropriations and more about a $50,000 change in the budget of the Sweden Senior Center. more

The New York State DEC reports that on November 1 the only Deer Management Permit applications it will process will be for Archery only 1C and 3S.

Golden Eagles earn playoff home game
Brockport completed a weekend men's soccer sweep with a 2-0 win over first place and ninth ranked Fredonia to secure the fourth seed in SUNYAC and the right to host a first round play-in game against Oswego on October 31. One day prior, Brockport defeated Buffalo State 4-1. more

Rangers seeded fifth
Senior day at Spencerport brought a 2-0 loss to Greece Athena, which cost the Ranger boy's soccer team a home game for the first round of the Section V playoffs. more
