The Kendall Fire Department held their annual election of officers. Rick Seaman was elected chief of the department, Mike Kludt, deputy chief, both for a one year term. more

Musician finds a good fit by crossing the Genesee
Don Yungkurth has played his clarinet for more years than most of his fellow musicians in the Roberts Wesleyan Community Orchestra have lived. Because many in the orchestra are music students at the college, one would assume that means a few decades. more

Nominations invited for B-B Alumni Hall of Fame
The Byron-Bergen Educational Foundation (B.B.E.F.) is sponsoring an Alumni Hall of Fame, an initiative that started two years ago to provide students with positive role models and to challenge their imaginations. The Hall of Fame will recognize the accomplishments of graduates of the Byron-Bergen School District or its component schools before consolidation. more

Residents celebrate 49th wedding anniversary
On Wednesday, January 19, Victor and Nilde Degregorio celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary at Hilton East Assisted Living. Victor surprised Nilde with a dozen roses as residents of Hilton East gathered to join their celebration. more

Students invited to suggest a state law
Assemblyman Bill Reilich invites any fourth grade students in this district to participate in a district wide contest. "Since New York state standards include the study of state government in fourth grade, I thought this program would be both a fun and informative culminating activity for fourth grade students in my district," Reilich said. Each participant will be allowed to submit one idea for consideration. more

Tops gas station back on Hamlin Planning Board agenda
Landscaping, trash removal, pedestrian sidewalks and noise were a few of the issues that were addressed by Tops officials at the January 25 planning board meeting in Hamlin. Richard Bauman, Hamlin's building inspector and code enforcement officer, said those issues were addressed and the proposal to construct a fueling station on the site of the Tops grocery store in Hamlin is now back in the hands of planning board officials. more

Entries sought for Hilton Apple Fest logo for 2005
The Hilton Apple Fest will be celebrating its 25th anniversary this year on October 1 and 2. The Board of Directors are starting off the year by sponsoring a souvenir logo contest. more

Hamlin squeaks by Kendall in Euchre finish
Hamlin won the 51st Annual Hamlin-Kendall Euchre Tournament by 22 points over all in Hamlin, Wednesday, February 2 and the cry went up, "wait til next year." more

Local Mom's Club Chapter
makes donation to Hamlin Town Hall

The local Moms Club Chapter serving Hamlin, Clarkson and Kendall has donated a commercial-sized Koala changing table to the Hamlin Town Hall. This is to be used for the women's restroom. more

Ogden authorizes tax extension to active military
At their regular board meeting on January 26, the Ogden Town Board passed a resolution extending the deadline of real property tax collection for persons deployed by the military until 90 days from the end of deployment. more

Monroe County to receive $1.1 million in anti-terror funds
Monroe County has been awarded more than $1 million to help first responders and county officials better prepare for, respond to and recover from potential acts of terrorism. Assemblyman Bill Reilich, 134th District, said the funds were awarded from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). more

Byron-Bergen received a second, third and fifth place finish from Ashley Currier, Naomi Hickey and Emily Starowitz in the 100-yard Breaststroke to overcome a nine-point deficit to Attica and win their second consecutive Genesee Region Swimming & Diving League Championship. more
