Brockport settles police chief contract
It took 45 minutes and at the end - by a margin of three to two - a contract resolution was reached between the Village of Brockport and its police chief. The approval of the renegotiated contract came after more than a year of legal wrangling and back and forth between the parties because of the revocation of the police chief’s former contract in October 2005. more

Firefighters receive new rescue saws
Assemblyman Bill Reilich presented Brockport Firefighters two partner K-12 Fire Rescue Saws and two sets of firefighter protective clothing as part of his member initiative funds sponsorship. The equipment expense totaled more than $6,750. more

Riga board votes on Gough Road maintenance
A long-time practice by the Town of Riga to maintain and plow Gough Road will continue. The resolution was voted on by board members at a November 6 board meeting and the approval came following a close to two-hour discussion, according to Supervisor Pam Moore. more

Technology to focus on improving town service
The Town of Parma has begun a technology upgrade thanks in part to Assemblyman Steve Hawley, who secured a $5,000 grant from the New York State Assembly. more

Luster Coate site redevelopment project

Lotus Development Inc. will hold a public information meeting on Thursday, November 30, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Churchville Village Hall to review the current status of the company's proposed cleanup and redevelopment of the Luster Coate manufacturing site. more

Election results tabulated for the area
In Clarkson, Christopher Wilcox retained his seat as town judge against challenger Samantha Golden. Wilcox received 1,236 votes, Golden, 581. The Town of Clarkson council seat was retained by Patrick Didas, who received 1,057 votes, while challenger Sheldon Meyers garnered 777. more

Byron-Bergen receives ExxonMobil grant
Byron-Bergen Central School District has received a $500 grant from the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program to support "school-to-life" initiatives at the high school.

Hilton School District looking at building infrastructure;
proposal to present capital project to voters

A group of 15 Hilton School District official, staff and community members met Wednesday, November 1, to begin discussion of New York State Education Department's "Excell" building aid. "It is a financial opportunity we have and the timetable we're working under is tight," according to Assistant Superintendent for Business Steven Ayers who facilitated the meeting. more

Holley Middle School celebrates Red Ribbon Week
Holley Middle School students marked Red Ribbon Week, October 23-27, by creating posters that illustrate the meaning and history of Red Ribbon Week, and how to be drug free. Seventh graders worked in teams to create large posters and eighth graders created individual posters. more

Area teams win Section V titles
Brockport's boy's soccer team, Hilton's girl's cross country, Hilton gymnastics and Byron-Bergen's girl's volleyball team each were victorious in their respective Section V championship games. more

Bees fall in states
Just three days after winning their second consecutive Section V Class B championship and the ninth in school history, Byron-Bergen's boy's soccer season ended with a 5-2 loss to Hornell in the state qualifying game held at PAETEC Park in a steady rain. more

Former Hilton basketball players invited to alumni game
Former members of Hilton boys basketball teams are invited to an alumni game on Saturday, November 25 at 7 p.m. in the Hilton High School gym. more

Golden Eagles win first women's soccer title
Lyndsey Burnisky's first half goal was all the offense Brockport needed as they defeated Geneseo 1-0 to win the school's first SUNYAC Tournament title in women's soccer. more

Hawks win first title in nine years
With a team featuring just four seniors, second-seeded Holley won the seventh Section Five boy's soccer title in school history with a goal in the first overtime by Jesus Mendoza to defeat top-seeded Perry 1-0 before losing to Wheatland-Chili 2-1 for the third time this season in the Class C state qualifier in a sudden death shootout. more

Tri County Youth Hockey Initiation consists of several first time players who never had been on the ice along with second and third year players. Beginner players have learned how to skate in little time. more
