(IEEP), will offer two Energy Star® labeled compact fluorescent lamps (CFL's) to residential electric customers. "Deb's Meds" Trust Fund to help with kidney transplant medications
Friends of Debbie Vernam at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencerport have set up a trust fund to collect money donations to help pay for the co-payments for medications that will be needed after Debbie has a kidney transplant. In order for her to have the transplant, she will need to afford many expensive medications in the first year following the procedure, according to a representative of the group. more
Fairfield Place DEIS meeting September 16
Citizens concerned with the proposed Fairfield Place housing will have a chance to sound off to Parma town officials Tuesday, September 16 at 7 p.m. at the Parma Town Hall. The town will hold a public hearing to get reactions to the project's draft environmental impact statement. more
Foster Homes needed for future Guide Dogs
Guiding Eyes for the Blind (GEB) has an ongoing need for individuals or families to provide foster homes for potential future guide dogs. Approved raisers receive an eight week old, specially bred Labrador Retriever puppy, which will be kept safe, taught good manners and socialized to prepare for formal guide dog training. more
Grocery sets scene for wedding
On September 5, Rick Furnal, owner of the Hilton Big M, permitted a major rearrangement of the Produce Department to free up a large space in front of the green onions, cukes and red, yellow and green peppers to accommodate a 2 p.m. wedding. The bride, Kathleen Smith, had requested the use of store space to enable her Big M friends to be there and to avoid "a stuffy, old wedding and have fun." more
Historical societies, museums open for Olde Northampton Day
Eight museums and historical societies in this area are sponsoring an "Olde Northampton Heritage Day" on Sunday afternoon, September 28. They are jointly holding open houses, inviting area residents to tour their facilities and view their museum collections. Admission is free. more

Trolley Station restoration project gets underway
From 1908 to 1931, the Buffalo, Lockport and Rochester Trolley transported people to and from school and work and also on pleasure excursions. Students in Gates rode the BL&R to Spencerport because Gates did not have a high school. more
