Brockport Chess Club wins Division III Championship
Brockport's Chess Club, the Chess Devils, recently won their division. They went undefeated all year during 10 regular season games and two play-off games between Albion, Hilton, Holley, Kendall and Pembroke Schools. Brockport students were awarded trophies at the Rochester Interscholastic Chess League Championship on April 24 at Eastridge High School. more

Kendall holds the line on taxes

Seniors Bethany Bridenbaugh and Katie Voorheis each registered a RBI and Churchville-Chili scored two more runs on wild pitches as the Saints defeated Hilton 5-3 in high school girl's softball. more

C-C Sports Booster Athletic Banquet June 2
The Churchville-Chili Sports Booster Club will host its annual Sports Banquet honoring the district's athletes on June 2. The banquet will be held at the Diplomat Party House. The doors open at 5:30 and dinner is served at 6 p.m. Scholarship winners will be announced at the banquet. more

Donation of sports equipment sought for fundraiser
The Holley Sports Boosters Club is seeking donations of used or gently used sports equipment and cleats. Donations may be dropped off at 9 Perry Street, Holley, where a garage sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 5, as a fundraiser for the club. Call 638-5823 or 638-5763 with questions. Finger Lakes Men regain
championship by a narrow margin

The Finger Lakes Community College men's team, with only one returning player from the previous year, carved a very narrow victory in competition against seven four-year schools in the 58th Annual Spring Woodsmen's competition held at Dartmouth College. more

Fisher softball knocks out top-seeded Geneseo in ECACs
The St. John Fisher College softball team eliminated No. 1 SUNY Geneseo from the ECAC Upstate Championship with a 4-0 win over the Knights on May 8. Fisher's Amanda Herberger (Kenmore East/Tonawanda) struck out a career-high 13 batters and allowed only two hits to earn the win on the mound. more

Hilton youth wins NHL "7th Kid" award
The National Hockey League (NHL) and its 30 member teams recently held a nationwide contest to find the most dedicated young fan through the first ever NHL 7th Kid Award. Hockey fans in the U.S. and Canada, ages 7-17, were encouraged to show why they are the top fan of their favorite NHL team, and ultimately the entire league, by submitting a 250 word essay plus optional materials (in the form of videos, drawings, stories) to support their claim. more

Kendall players champs
Kendall basketball players Patrick Dorney and Dan Halter, along with the rest of Batavia's AAU team, won the Corning Area Tournament Championship over Mother's Day weekend. The team has been playing each weekend at sites throughout New York state and has been to tournaments in Buffalo, Binghampton and Syracuse among others. more

New York State Team wins level 8 regional championships
Erin Duffy of Hilton represented New York state and The Victors Gymnastics of Greece in the Level 8 Junior Olympics - Region 6 Championships, May 8 and 9 in Westborough, Massachusetts. more

The annual Spencerport Central School's year-end Athletic Awards Banquet will be held on Wednesday, June 9, in the High School Performing Arts Center. more

Spencerport teams qualify for award
Six of the seven Spencerport spring athletic teams qualified for the NYSPHSAA Team Scholar Athlete Award during the spring season. In order to qualify, a team must have a team grade point average of 90 percent or above. more
