Crow tests positive for West Nile virus
A dead crow found in the Town of Perinton has tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV), according to Monroe County health officials. Monroe County is the second county in the state, since Dutchess County, to have identified WNV this year. more

Hamlin Lions working to construct recreation building
Hamlin Lions Club members expect to break ground this August on a 2,400 square foot facility that will offer space for restrooms, concessions, storage and general use, adorned with a 60 foot by 24 foot canopies. more

Membership applications are being accepted for Orleans County Youth Court. Applicants must be between the ages of 14 and 19, residents of Orleans County and enrolled in high school. more

Purple Pony Company provides horse riding as therapy for disabled
Children and adults with disabilities, such as autism, mental retardation, cerebral palsy and multiple sclerosis can receive a variety of therapies. One of the therapies that might come as a surprise to some, is horse riding. more

Residents react to Brockport's proposed code changes

Michael M. Canny has been named by the Spencerport Board of Education to become the new Principal of Cosgrove Middle School on July 1. Canny is currently the principal at Red Jacket Middle School in the Manchester-Shortsville Central School District in Ontario County. more

The four singles players lost just five games while winning 48 in leading Brockport to a 7-0 sweep in varsity boy's tennis. It was the final league match of the season for both teams. more

C-C athletes recognized at upcoming awards banquet
The Churchville-Chili Sports Booster Club hosts its annual Sports Banquet to honor the district's outstanding athletes on June 6 at the Diplomat Party House. Winners of several scholarships will also be announced that night. more

The Spencerport Vipers U9 Boys soccer team returned from their first tournament of the season in Akron, New York with two wins and one tie on the weekend of May 1. more

Spencerport teams qualify for scholar award
Seven of eight spring athletic teams at Spencerport Central Schools qualified for the NYSPHSAA Team Scholar Athlete Award. In order to qualify, a team must have a team grade point average of 90 percent or above. more
