Construction starts soon on Spencerport village street project
By mid-April, Village of Spencerport residents on Coleman, Coolidge and Barrett avenues will be seeing the beginning of more than four months of road construction. The end result, Mayor Ted Walker said, will be more than worth the inconvenience. more

DEC completes one phase of Brockport cleanup
More than 17,000 tons of contaminated soil and sediment have been removed from the tributary near the former 3M/Dynacolor site in Brockport. Yet, even with all of that work, Department of Environmental Conservation Director Sean Hanna says the clean up "isn't finished yet." more

Masons combine to form new lodge in Spencerport
Freemasonry's Grand Lodge officers of New York state, under the direction of Grand Master Edward R. Trosin, Jr., will assemble in Spencerport on Sunday, May 15 at 3 p.m. to dedicate the new Unity Lodge No. 479. The ceremony will be at the Lodge hall at 133 South Union Street in the village. more

Rate increase in store for Spencerport village taxpayers
If the Village of Spencerport budget is approved as presented, taxpayers will see a tax rate of $2.70 per $1,000 of assessed valuation. The proposed tax rate is a 45 cent increase over fiscal year June 1, 2004 to May 31, 2005. The anticipated sewer user fee will be $235 annually, up $35 from the prior year. Fees for electric use will stay the same. more

Student vocalists invited to compete
A free, a cappella singing competition for students is being sponsored by the Seneca Land District of the Barbershop Harmony Society (SPEBSQSA), as part of a youth outreach program which promotes singing as a "Hobby For Life." more

Sixteen-year-old Kerry Apeland of Chili earned the tile of New York State Balance Beam Champion at the USA Gymnastics Level 9 Championships held March 12 at Stony Brook University Sports Complex on Long Island. She scored a 9.45 to win first place on beam. more
